Later this summer, I’ll be celebrating the Wisch List’s 10th birthday, which I suppose means that the little fella should be headed into the 5th grade this fall.
Perhaps I can dig out my old Trapper Keeper.
Back on Aug. 22, 2002, I launched the Wisch List as a general-interest column for the Daily Times in Ottawa, Ill. Since then, it’s produced a book (“Northern IlliNOISE” in 2004), taken me to the big city (I transformed the column into a blog for chicagotribune.com from 2005 to 2007) and back to my roots (the Wisch List now runs as a weekly column in my hometown area newspaper, the Kankakee Daily Journal, and back in Ottawa in the Times).
And this week, the Wisch List’s online incarnation has received its own makeover.
Welcome to the new wischlist.com, featuring a fresh look and improved features. As regular visitors likely know, since I launched this site back in 2008 it’s mainly served as the home for my weekly Wisch List newspaper column.
It will continue to serve that purpose when I post my column each weekend, but you’ll also now be able to find all of my journalism work on the site, including links to my sports blog entries at CBSChicago.com and my columns for the new Windy City sports writing site ChicagoSide.
The site will also serve as a central hub for my social media outlets with feeds and links from my Twitter and Facebook, as well as my website OddChicagoPhotos.com. You can also expect that on a regular basis I’ll be writing or posting other content exclusive to the site, so be sure to bookmark and check back regularly.
Last, but far from least, big thanks to my good friend John Moats, who originally set up wischlist.com four years ago, for his expertise and insight with this redesign.
And with all that said, away we go …
