About

A native of Bourbonnais and a graduate of the University of Illinois, Dave has spent more than two decades chronicling people, sports and issues in Chicago and throughout the Land of Lincoln.

In 1996, Dave’s journalism career began during college covering sports part-time for the Champaign News-Gazette. Upon graduation with a degree in print journalism in May 1998, he took a job at The Daily Times in Ottawa, Ill., where Dave worked his way up from a sports writer to features editor and columnist. In November 2004, Dave published his first book, “Northern IlliNOISE: Tales of a Territory,” a collection of 75 of his popular general-interest Wisch List columns.

Eight months later in July 2005, having won 18 national, regional and statewide editorial awards for The Daily Times — including six first-places for columns, features, sports and news — Dave took a job as a Metro reporter for the Chicago Tribune, where he adapted his Wisch List column into a blog for chicagotribune.com, helping to pioneer the online medium for the newspaper.

Today, Dave works full-time as Director of Content for a Chicago marketing agency and lives with his wife in the city’s Lakeview neighborhood. He continues to write his syndicated weekly city-centric Wisch List newspaper column for The Daily Journal in Kankakee and The Times in Ottawa, having also worked as a longtime sports columnist for CBSChicago.com and 670TheScore.com. Dave also has contributed features to TimeOut Chicago, ChicagoSide, Kellogg School of Management Alumni Magazine and other publications and regularly serves as a guest on a wide variety of sports radio talk shows and podcasts throughout Chicago and Illinois.
